![]() One of the delights of the console versions is how smoothly you can pull off your tricks using the right analog stick, and perhaps with a closer look, another control method may have worked better on the DS. Either use the quick-trick function and let the game decide for you what trick you're gonna perform, or slide your thumb all over the touch screen, which is used in place of an analog stick, and hope for the best. The problem is that pulling off the moves is just not satisfying, because you only have two possible choices. What you can do is take your four players to the pitch and string together a bunch of trick combos, which is the meat of any EA Street title. You also don't get to create your own pitch, like you do in the console versions. You don't get most of the customization features the other games provide, and in a game that treasures style over substance, this is a disappointing revelation. Everything about the DS version is stripped down to the bare essentials from a gameplay perspective, something we noticed right off the bat when creating our player for the career mode. ![]() Factor in a useless touch screen control that's meant to replace the analog stick tricks of the other versions, and you're left with a barebones representation of alternative soccer. None of the new features will be found: no improved AI or ball physics, no new camera options, no new juggles or tricks. ![]() The DS version's not even based on the newly released sequel - it's a version of last year's game. However, the DS version of FIFA Street 2, like the PSP version, is a huge cop-out, an afterthought meant to capitalize on a multi-system release of a mediocre follow-up to a mediocre game.
